The inbuilt camera in the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is 3.2 MP. This is average for a mobile phone of the BlackBerry Curve 8900’s calibre. However it is an adequate camera for taking everyday shots. The camera has a 2 x digital zoom and auto focus. The flash we have found to be average and it works well with the image stabilisation feature to give you clear pictures. As well as taking pictures the camera in the BlackBerry Curve 8900 also records video.

When you’re surfing the net and keeping connected with your friends on social networking sites the 35 key QWERTY keypad will be very handy. The QWERTY keypad is the same keypad as you would find on a laptop or a computer. It has all the letters in the alphabet and some double as number keys. To finish off the keypad there are several dedicated keys for sending messages, locking the phone, using the camera and muting calls. The QWERTY keypad is also backlit which can be very useful when you’re texting in the dark!

The battery life is something very important when it comes to mobile phones. Battery life is measured by talk time – the amount of time you can talk for on a full battery. The type of battery is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and has approximately 5.5 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time. The talk time is above average for a smart phone.

Another feature of a mobile phone which is very important is the memory. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 has 256 MB of onboard memory. This isn’t a lot but it can be expanded with a micro SD card.

Overall we really like this BlackBerry. The design is sleek and sharp and the technology is above average. It is a very good phone for the consumer who wants a smart phone but not the absolute latest model.
